1. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM RH

  1. Install the lower arm onto the crossmember and provisionally tighten the bolt.



2. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Place wooden blocks or plate lift attachments on an engine lifter, and then set the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly so that the attachments are in the positions shown in the illustration.

  1. Temporarily install the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly to the body with the 6 bolts.



  1. By inserting SST into the datum holes in the front suspension crossmember RH and LH alternately, tighten bolts A, B and C on both sides to the specified torque, in several steps.

    87 N*m{ 887 kgf*cm , 64 ft.*lbf }
    Bolt B:
    151 N*m{ 1540 kgf*cm , 111 ft.*lbf }
    Bolt C:
    98 N*m{ 999 kgf*cm , 72 ft.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    1. Insert SST into the datum hole in a vertical orientation.
    2. If SST cannot be inserted into the datum hole vertically, loosen all the bolts and then insert SST again.

  1. Install the engine moving control rod with the bolt.

    Torque:
    120 N*m{ 1224 kgf*cm , 89 ft.*lbf }


3. INSTALL FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM LH
  1. Install the front lower suspension arm sub-assembly LH to the steering knuckle with a new castle nut.

    Torque:
    98 N*m{ 999 kgf*cm , 72 ft.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    If the holes for the clip are not aligned, tighten the nut by a further turn of up to 60°.
  1. Install a new clip.



4. INSTALL FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM RH

HINT:
The installation procedure for the RH side is the same as that for the LH side.


5. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
  1. Install the tie rod end sub-assembly LH to the steering knuckle with a new castle nut.

    Torque:
    49 N*m{ 500 kgf*cm , 36 ft.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    If the holes for the clip are not aligned, tighten the nut by a further turn of up to 60°.
  1. Install a new cotter pin.



6. INSTALL TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT:
The installation procedure for the RH side is the same as that for the LH side.


7. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
  1. Install the front stabilizer link assembly LH with the nut.

    Torque:
    74 N*m{ 755 kgf*cm , 55 ft.*lbf }

    HINT:
    If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a socket hexagon wrench 6 mm to hold the stud.


8. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT:
The installation procedure for the RH side is the same as that for the LH side.


9. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Install clip B to the body portion and install the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly to the body portion with clip A.

    NOTICE:
    Make sure that the lip portion of steering column hole cover is not damaged.


10. INSTALL STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Align the matchmarks and install the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly to the power steering gear.

  1. Install bolt B.

    Torque:
    35 N*m{ 360 kgf*cm , 26 ft.*lbf }
  1. Tighten bolt A.

    Torque:
    35 N*m{ 360 kgf*cm , 26 ft.*lbf }


11. INSTALL COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET
  1. Install the column hole cover silencer sheet with the 2 clips.

  1. Install the floor carpet.



12. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Torque:
103 N*m{ 1050 kgf*cm , 76 ft.*lbf }


13. POSITION WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD


14. STABILIZE SUSPENSION
  1. Lower the vehicle from the jack.

  1. Bounce the vehicle up and down several times to stabilize the suspension.



15. FULLY TIGHTEN FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM RH

  1. Fully tighten the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    Bolt A:
    137 N*m{ 1397 kgf*cm , 101 ft.*lbf }
    Bolt B:
    151 N*m{ 1540 kgf*cm , 111 ft.*lbf }


16. INSTALL OUTER COWL TOP PANEL
  1. Install the cowl top panel outer with the 8 bolts.

    Torque:
    6.5 N*m{ 66 kgf*cm , 58 in.*lbf }
  1. Install the cowl top to cowl inner brace with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    6.5 N*m{ 66 kgf*cm , 58 in.*lbf }
  1. Connect the wire harness clamp.



17. INSTALL FRONT AIR SHUTTER SEAL
  1. Engage the 3 claws to install the front air shutter seal RH.



18. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK

  1. Connect the connector.

  1. Slide the wiper link as shown in the illustration and engage the rubber pin with the body.

  1. Install the front wiper motor and link with the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    5.5 N*m{ 56 kgf*cm , 49 in.*lbf }


19. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Connect the washer hoses.

  1. Engage the 5 hooks.

  1. Engage the 8 hooks and the 4 claws.

  1. Install the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly with the 3 clips.



20. INSTALL COWL SIDE VENTILATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Engage the 3 claws and install the cowl side ventilator sub-assembly LH.



21. INSTALL COWL SIDE VENTILATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT:
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.


22. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Scrape any metal powder off the serrated part of the wiper arm with a round file or the equivalent (when reinstalling).

  1. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

  1. Operate the wiper, then stop the windshield wiper motor in the automatic stop position.

  1. Align the blade tip with the mark on the windshield glass, as shown in the illustration.

  1. Tighten the nut of the front wiper arm.

    Torque:
    26 N*m{ 265 kgf*cm , 19 ft.*lbf }


23. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH

  1. Scrape any metal powder off the serrated part of the wiper arm with a round file or the equivalent (when reinstalling).

  1. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

  1. Operate the wiper, then stop the windshield wiper motor in the automatic stop position.

24. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP

  1. Engage the claw and install the 2 front wiper arm head caps.



25. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
  1. Provisionally install the hood with the 4 bolts.

    HINT:
    Tighten the bolts to the specified torque after inspecting the hood.


26. INSPECT HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY


  1. Check that the clearance measurements are within the standard ranges.

27. ADJUST HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Loosen the hood side hinge bolts.

  1. Move the hood to adjust the clearance to within the standard range.

  1. Tighten the hood side hinge bolts after the adjustment.

    Torque:
    13 N*m{ 133 kgf*cm , 10 ft.*lbf }

  1. Adjust the height of the hood front end by turning the cushion rubber.

    HINT:
    The cushion rubber can be raised and lowered by turning it.

  1. Adjust the hood lock.

    1. Loosen the 3 bolts.

    2. Adjust the hood lock position so that the striker can enter it smoothly.

    3. Tighten the 3 bolts after the adjustment.

      Torque:
      7.5 N*m{ 76 kgf*cm , 66 in.*lbf }


28. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

Torque:
5.4 N*m{ 55 kgf*cm , 48 in.*lbf }


29. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
