POWER STEERING SYSTEM (for Hatchback) > TEST MODE PROCEDURE


NOTICE:
The torque sensor zero point calibration is performed automatically when the test mode inspection is conducted after the power steering ECU has been replaced with a new one.

HINT:
  1. Speed sensor signals can be checked easily in test mode.
  2. Test mode code C1571 is stored during the transition to test mode. This code does not indicate a malfunction since the code will be cleared when the ECU determines that the sensor is normal.
  3. The test mode code is cleared simultaneously when test mode is terminated.

ENTER TEST MODE
  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

  3. Start the engine.

  4. Turn the Techstream on.

  5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Utility / Signal Check.

  1. The EPS warning light blinks as shown on the left when test mode is entered.

    NOTICE:
    If the torque sensor zero point calibration has not been performed, the EPS warning comes on until the torque sensor zero point calibration is completed, and shows the test mode blink pattern after the torque sensor zero point calibration is completed.

CHECK VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL (w/o ABS)


  1. Drive the vehicle until the vehicle speed reaches 10 km/h (6 mph) or more.

READ TEST MODE CODE
  1. Check the DTCs in test mode.

    Test Mode DTC
    Test Signal
    Test Mode DTC Clear Condition
    Trouble areas
    C1571
    Vehicle speed check
    Vehicle speed 10 km/h (6 mph) or more
    If the DTC cannot be cleared, any of the following areas may be malfunctioning:
    1. Vehicle speed signal circuit
    2. Power steering ECU

    NOTICE:
    Test mode code is cleared when test mode is terminated.

END OF TEST MODE
  1. Return to normal mode by following the instructions on the tester screen.

  2. Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the tester.
