DTC P0010 Camshaft Position "A" Actuator Circuit (Bank 1) |
DESCRIPTION
- HINT:
- This DTC relates to the Oil Control Valve (OCV).
The VVT (variable valve timing) system adjusts the intake valve timing to improve the driveability. The engine oil pressure turns the camshaft actuator to adjust the valve timing. The OCV is a solenoid valve and switches the engine oil line. The valve moves when the ECM applies the 12 volts to the solenoid. The ECM changes the energizing time to the solenoid (duty-cycle) in accordance with the camshaft position, crankshaft position, throttle position etc.
DTC No. | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
P0010 | Open or short in OCV (for intake camshaft) circuit (1 trip detection logic) |

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- HINT:
- Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.CHECK DTC (OPERATE OCV) |
Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
Clear DTCs after recording the freeze frame data and DTCs.
Start the engine.
Allow the engine to idle and check for DTCs.
Check that P0010 is present.
- OK:
- P0010 is present.

2.INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY |
Disconnect the C24 OCV connector.
Measure the resistance between the terminals of the OCV.
- Standard resistance:
- 6.9 to 7.9 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
Reconnect the OCV connector.

OK | |
3.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OCV - ECM) |
Disconnect the C24 OCV connector.
Disconnect the C20 ECM connector.
Check the resistance.
- Standard resistance (check for open):
Tester Connections Specified Conditions OC1+ (C24-1) - OC1+ (C20-100) Below 1 Ω OC1- (C24-2) - OC1- (C20-123)
- Standard resistance (check for short):
Tester Connections Specified Conditions OC1+ (C24-1) or OC1+ (C20-100) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher OC1- (C24-2) or OC1- (C20-123) - Body ground
Reconnect the OCV connector.
Reconnect the ECM connector.
