FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (except Fold Down Seat Type) > REMOVAL

CAUTION:
  1. Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing (Click here).
  2. If the side airbag was deployed, replace the front seat airbag assembly, front seat back cover and front seat frame with adjuster assembly with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage.
  3. Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the seat frame and adjuster may injure your hands.

HINT:
Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.


1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Click here).


2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Click here).


3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (for Manual Seat)

  1. Remove the front seat assembly LH (Click here).



4. REMOVE VERTICAL ADJUSTING HANDLE LH (for 8 Way Manual Seat)

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the vertical adjuster handle cap.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Remove the 2 screws and vertical adjuster handle.



5. REMOVE VERTICAL SEAT ADJUSTER KNOB LH (for 8 Way Manual Seat)

  1. Remove the snap ring and vertical seat adjuster knob.



6. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE LH (for Manual Seat)

  1. Lift the reclining adjuster release handle.

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the reclining adjuster release handle.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.


7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH (for Manual Seat)

  1. Remove the hog rings and rubber bands of the seatback cover from the seat frame.

  1. Remove the 2 screws.

  1. Detach the 3 claws in the order shown in the illustration, and then remove the cushion shield.

  1. w/ Lumbar Support Adjuster:
    Disconnect the switch connector.



8. REMOVE INNER FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH (for Manual Seat)

  1. Remove the screw.

  1. Detach the 3 claws in the order shown in the illustration, and then remove the cushion shield.



9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY LH (for Manual Seat)


10. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD LH (for Manual Seat)

  1. Detach the hook.

  1. Remove the hog rings and seatback cover wires.

  1. Remove the nut and seatback cover bracket from the seat frame.

  1. Detach the 4 claws and remove the 2 headrest supports.

11. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (for Power Seat)

  1. Remove the front seat assembly LH (Click here).



12. REMOVE SLIDE AND VERTICAL POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB LH (for Power Seat)

  1. Apply protective tape around the cushion shield.

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the knob.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.


13. REMOVE RECLINING POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB LH (for Power Seat)

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the knob.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.


14. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH (for Power Seat)

  1. Remove the hog rings and rubber bands of the seatback cover from the seat frame.

  1. Remove the 2 screws.

  1. Remove the 3 screws.

  1. Detach the 2 claws and remove the cushion shield.

  1. Disconnect the switch connectors.



15. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH (for Power Seat)

  1. Driver Side:
    Disconnect the 2 connectors and detach the 4 clamps.

  1. Passenger Side:
    Disconnect the connector and detach the clamp.

  1. Remove the nut and front seat inner belt.



16. REMOVE INNER FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH (for Power Seat)

  1. Remove the screw.

  1. Detach the 2 claws and clip, and then remove the cushion shield.



17. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD LH (for Power Seat)

18. REMOVE FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the 3 wire harness clamps from under the seat.

  1. Disconnect the 2 clamps.

  1. Remove the 2 nuts and the front seat side airbag assembly.

    CAUTION:
    1. The nuts must not be reused.
    2. Make sure that the seat frame assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.
