for Preparation Click here

1. INSTALL CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

C132128E03
  1. Install the clutch master cylinder with the 2 nuts.

    Torque:
    13 N*m{ 130 kgf*cm , 9 in.*lbf }

2. CONNECT CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER TO FLEXIBLE HOSE TUBE

C127491E02
  1. Using a union nut wrench, connect the flexible hose tube.

    Torque:
    15 N*m{ 153 kgf*cm , 11 ft.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    Use the formula to calculate special torque values for situations where a union nut wrench is combined with a torque wrench (Click here).

3. CONNECT CLUTCH RESERVOIR TUBE

C127490E02
  1. Connect the clutch reservoir tube to the clutch master cylinder with the clip.

    NOTICE:
    1. Connect the clutch reservoir tube so that it will not be twisted.
    2. Face the yellow mark upward.

4. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (w/ Knee Airbag)

B127987
  1. Connect the connector.

    NOTICE:
    When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
  1. Install the driver side knee airbag with the 4 bolts.

    Torque:
    10 N*m{ 101 kgf*cm , 7 ft.*lbf }

5. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL (w/o Knee Airbag)

B132919
  1. Attach the 8 claws to install the lower instrument panel finish panel.

  1. Install the 2 screws.

6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

7. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
  1. Check the SRS warning light (Click here).

8. BLEED CLUTCH PIPE LINE
  1. Fill the brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed the clutch system.

    Torque:
    8.3 N*m{ 85 kgf*cm , 73 in.*lbf }

9. CHECK BRAKE FLUID
  1. Check the brake fluid (Click here).

    HINT:
    1. Check for leakage in the brake system.
    2. Check for leakage in the clutch system.

10. CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR

C126431
  1. Check the fluid level and add fluid if necessary.

    Fluid:
    SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3

    HINT:
    Add fluid to a level between the reservoir's MIN and MAX lines.

11. INSPECT AND ADJUST CLUTCH PEDAL SUB-ASSEMBLY
  1. Lift up the floor carpet to expose the asphalt sheet under the pedal.

    C128477E01
  1. Check that the pedal height is correct.

    Standard pedal height from dash panel:
    210.2 to 220.2 mm (8.28 to 8.67 in.)
  1. Adjust the pedal height.

    1. Loosen the lock nut and turn the stopper bolt until the pedal height is within the specified range.

    2. Tighten the lock nut.

      Torque:
      16 N*m{ 163 kgf*cm , 12 ft.*lbf }

    C133427E01
  1. Check the pedal free play and push rod play.

    1. Depress the clutch pedal until resistance is felt.

    2. Measure the distance between the pedal's released position and the position in the previous step.

      Standard pedal free play:
      5.0 to 15.0 mm (0.197 to 0.591 in.)
    3. Release the pedal. Using your finger, gently press the pedal until resistance increases slightly.

    4. Measure the distance between the pedal's released position and the position in the previous step.

      Standard push rod play at pedal top:
      1.0 to 5.0 mm (0.039 to 0.197 in.)
  1. Adjust the pedal free play and push rod play.

    1. Loosen the lock nut and turn the push rod until the pedal free play and push rod play are within the specified ranges.

    2. Tighten the lock nut.

      Torque:
      12 N*m{ 120 kgf*cm , 9 ft.*lbf }
    3. Check the pedal height.

    C128479E01
  1. Check the clutch release point.

    1. Pull the parking brake lever and use wheel chocks to stabilize the vehicle.

    2. Start the engine and run it at idle.

    3. Without depressing the clutch pedal, slowly move the shift lever to R until the gears contact.

    4. Gently depress the clutch pedal and measure the stroke distance from the point that the gear noise stops (release point) to the full stroke end position.

      Standard distance:
      25 mm (0.98 in.) or more
      If the distance is not as specified, perform the following operations.
      1. Check pedal height.
      1. Check push rod play and pedal free play.
      1. Bleed air from clutch line.
      1. Check clutch cover and disc.
